"Share with God's people who are in need, practice hospitality." Romans 12:13 (NIV)
While a family member is going through a time of serious illness or an extended stay in the hospital, the last thing on the other family members' minds is preparing or even thinking about eating good meals. This is the time that WUMC steps in and provides food for our church family when they are affected by these stressful situations. We are always looking for more people to help with this vital caring ministry. You can participate no matter what your cooking skills are. You simply need to cook or purchase a meal for another family, just like you would for your own, and transport the meal. You don't have to be great cook- a simple spaghetti meal would do! (Even Pastor Ellen can do that!) The commitment can vary. Sometimes you may be asked to cook one meal per month, other times, once every few months. Anyone who wants to serve others, wants to be part of a ministry but cannot commit to regular meetings, loves to cook, desires to bless families and new babies that are in the midst of difficult circumstances- you're encouraged to join us in this rewarding and delicious ministry. If this is something you might be interested in doing, please call Shamra in the church office (365-6266) or email her (wendellumc@gmail.com) and let her know. She will compile the list and give it to the Meal Ministry coordinator. The Meal Ministry coordinator will create teams to provide a meal in times of need. God has certainly called Wendell UMC to feeding others, whether it be via the Food Pantry, Table of Grace, or chicken dinners. Come and be a part of this caring ministry.
